What is Narrative Therapy?

Narrative therapy focuses on the stories of people’s lives.  Basically, people are "meaning makers" and the meaning they make happens within  social, religious and political contexts.

The stories/scripts people have for themselves and their lives are often dominated by problems.  These problem saturated stories can invite a powerful negative influence in the way people see their lives and capabilities.

Narrative therapy is a respectful and collaborative effort used to discover the ‘untold’ story.  Listening to stories of people’s lives, cultures and religions; looking for clues of knowledge and skills helps individuals identify and live in accordance with their preferred way of being.
